My guess is that GEnie was feeling the 
competition from America online which 
has a similar billing policy (although now 
not as good as GEnie) and perhaps even 
Prodigy, which for all the criticism 
heaped on it, got some takers due to the 
flat monthly rate of about $10.00.  
Whatever the reason, for me it will mean a 
smaller bill, and I will be able to access 
some areas I by-passed before to keep costs 
down.  Those accessing at 1200 Baud will 
not benefit as much, and depending on 
usage might even experience a slight 
increase.  I believe (but don't hold me to 
it) that they also are doing away with any 
startup fee, which was pretty small as I

Quick Compactor 1.2.1 for Stacks
If you have a lot of HyperCard Stacks, 
here's a neat one that compresses other 
stacks.  It will compress a single stack, a 
folder, or and entire volume (disk).  It 
keeps a running total of the disk space 
recovered by listing each individual stack 
before, after, and amount saved, and a 
total.  I managed to pickup over 300K on 
my 80MEG hard disk drive (don't remember how many stacks this involved).
